5 ways to improve your business blog

When it comes to your business blog, you probably set yours up with the premise of sharing news about the company and product updates. We’re going to stop you right there, because your blog could be so much more and reach so many more people if you tweaked it to include the following things.

1. Informative content Your blog should be sharing company news but it should also be working to put you forward as a thought leader in your industry. Let’s say your business is fashion orientated – therefore your blog should be discussing new trends, events in the industry and sharing inspirational posts to encourage users to click through.

2. Post regularly A blog that posts more often than not is one that gets noticed, so set some time into your schedule to post content and keep the site looking fresh. Twice a week is an ideal amount and if you can write posts based around regular themes that’s even better (i.e. Fridays could be for fun industry-related posts and Tuesdays for more serious how-to guides and industry news).

3. Do your keyword research Keyword research is an important part of creating any content. It ensures you are visible via search engines and gives you something to base content on. Google adwords is a great tool to use. All you need is a Google account. Simply sign in then search for new keywords to see what search volumes they generate and the best phrases to target within your content.
Answer the public is also a great site that generates questions people are searching for on Google, related to the keyword you are aiming to target and can even help when it comes to thinking up content titles and angles. Simply pop your keyword in the search bar and prepare to be amazed at what people are currently looking for.

4. Don’t call it a blog When you’re wading through the options on that website builder remember to avoid calling the category ‘blog’, instead opt for something visitors are more likely to click on such as ‘Guides’ or ‘Articles’.
If you are offering informative posts on your products and how to use them or about the industry itself then these are more likely to generate interest. The word blog makes people hesitate to look because they’ll expect company related posts that they have no interest in.

5. Host guest posts Get in touch with well-known experts in your industry or high profile bloggers and have them create a post for your blog. Ensure they share it on their social media and site too and you should have plenty of people clicking through. When it comes to improving your blog it’s a good idea to set aside some time to ensure yours is running smoothly, is easy to use and features plenty of interesting and relevant content.

We hope you find it useful.
