What’s the Difference Between Digital and Offset Printing?

The difference between digital and offset printing may not be entirely clear to you when you order printing for the first time. Here you will find the most important differences and what you should take into account.
What is digital printing?
Digital printing is cheaper with smaller runs than offset printing, and more expensive with larger runs. This is because there is no set-up cost making smaller quantities very efficient but as the cost is chargeable per printed page this continues to build for larger quantities. With the advances in technology the quality is considered the same and it’s very difficult to tell the difference.
What is offset printing?
Offset printing is printed on large traditional printing presses on “combination sheets”. By cleverly combining orders from different customers, offset printing has the lowest possible price for higher print runs. The set-up cost is split between many jobs, and the cost per print is very minimal.
So now we know it’s more efficient to use digital for smaller quantities, and offset for larger but do you know what is even more efficient? At Helloprint we already make the calculation for you, so when you order your flyers, business cards or posters you don’t need to worry about it!
